Sammie "Big Sam" Williams has been awarded the Louisiana Division of
the Arts Artist Fellowship for 2009-2010!
This is an extremely prestigious award and Big Sam is very deserving
as he has spread his brand of New Orleans music throughout the country and the world.
Artist Fellowships are grant awards in recognition of artistic
excellence. These awards recognize the artistic achievements of
exceptional individual artists living, working and contributing to
Louisiana's cultural economy.
Fellowships are awarded through a highly competitive process based
primarily on recognized artistic quality. The Louisiana Division of
the Arts has acknowledged Big Sam's professional merit and
